Racism in Sri Lanka

Little Island of Sri Lanka, is the home to four (major) races Sinhalese,Tamils,Muslims and Burghers. Religion wise, they are divided as Buddhists, Hindus, Islams and Catholics. As a Sri Lankan I assure you that only a very few of them (Sri Lankans) can be called "racists", pretty much around the same number any normal country would have. But the situation has become more amusing these days, as the same group that protests against a certain race, joins up with that exact race to protest against another.

Racism against Muslims/Islam

Now, it has become a world trend to protest against the fast growing Islam population. Even in Sri Lanka, I would say, Islam is the most criticized (don't like to use the word "hated") ethnic group. One of the reason for why they are being "hated" is that "Islamic Racists" follow some strange tactics to irritate others, such as building mosques all over the country, close to the worship places of other religions, Supporting team "Pakistan" in cricket instead of supporting "Sri Lanka", their mother country. 

Racism against Catholics

Catholic religion is facing lots of challenges in Sri Lanka. Surprisingly,  most of those challenges come from fundamentalists of their own religion. They haven't been able to protect the followers from these fraud half religions that keep replicating their numbers day by day. The only solution, Catholics have found to keep their religion alive, is bribing poor Buddhists, Muslims, Tamils to join their religion. This "silly" movement gave the racists a reason to go against all the Catholics-including those who haven't been a part in bribing. 

Racism against Tamils

Only a very few of the Tamil population in Sri Lanka, endorse the concept of a separate country. And that is the only reason why there are racist movements against them. But those movements don't get enough public support as the above ones, to be strong enough to do a damage to the peace. But unfortunately for Sri Lanka, Tamil Diaspora-most of them even haven't been to Sri Lanka- has enough money to keep NGOs and activists shouting at Sri Lanka. 

Racism against Sinhalese

There are some rat bastard Sinhalese, who think Sri Lanka is all for them. Fortunately most Sri Lankans have enough sense to treat these nuts as psychos. But some Muslims and Tamils can't stand this, so they decide to start racist movements against all Sinhalese. Some Buddhist monks are criticized by all Sri Lankans, for making unwanted troubles that destroy ethnic harmony among the races. If you look closely, it'll be obvious that those are the Sinhalese racists, who provoke other racists to gather against them. 

Myths regarding Racism

• Some international media always talk about a "genocide" which is said to be going on Sri Lanka.I don't know if they mistake the "Racism" for "Genocide" or whether they are being paid or pressured to make up such stories. Anyways, there's no GENOCIDE in Sri Lanka by any means. 

• Some believe, that the Racism in Sri Lanka is born and run by the public. It's also a myth. And those who are responsible for Racism is none other than political parties like Jathika Hela urumaya, Muslim Congress and Tamil alliance. Cheap Politicians! 

Beauty and the Disgust

Each eye sees the beauty in different way, They say. So the following article is completely based on my personal view. 

Recently in a Sri Lankan gossip site, some new pictures of a famous actress were released. I don't know why she is so popular, i don't see any beauty in her, i don't believe she can act well, i am absolutely clueless about what made her so popular. And right now-just now-it occurred to me that may be because she's one of the few actresses, in Sri Lanka, who won't hesitate to leave most parts of the body unclothed, and be open about it. But is it just enough to be attractive?  

Now let's get to the point. 

This is what i call Disgust, and this photo belongs to the actress i mentioned above. Let me know if you get turned on by this. If it wasn't for the few edits-to make her skin tone look fairer- made by the gossip site, she looks even horrible. Specially the bottom part of the body. Or is it just the pose that make her such a turn off? 

And this a photo of someone that i call beautiful.

Gayesha Perera, was the miss Asia Pacific in 2012, she is an actress and a model. She she's not cheap as the above one, so her presence on TV screen is quite rare and worth watching.  I am no fashion expert, but i can't recall a single moment she didn't look stunning. Sometimes she wears traditional clothes like Sarees, at times she presents herself with sexy outfits. Selective and ever charming!   

The point is, Directors and even the public should know, it takes something more than taking off clothes, to be attractive. When some crazy woman acts like she's the most attractive woman and when she's no where near being attractive, it becomes disgusting. 

Game of Thrones! Which team is the biggest choker in the world of cricket? SriLanka or South Africa?

Lets see some occasions in the history where South Africa has choked.

◄1992 out in the semi finalGot to say they were very unlucky due to the rain affected match which reversed their target to 22 runs needing in one ball. But before the rain 22 needed from 14 balls which could have gone either way. 

◄1996 QFSA won all matches in the first round and clearly choked in the Quarter Final against West Indies who even lost to Kenya and bowled out for 93! 

◄1999 SF Choking at its best. Just needed a single to win with several balls to spare. It was one of the silliest run outs which tied the match and ended SA’s successful run in the world cup. 

◄2003 out from the first round.Once again SA choked due to the home field pressure. They lost to NZ and WI which two teams they defeated comfortably at home in ODI series prior to WCup. And tied with SL the same team they whopped 5:1 and 4:1 before the world cup at their home soil!.One would assume that they misjudged the D/L score but the fact of the matter was they failed to defeat the top 3 teams in their group and don’t deserve to be in the super 6 on the first place. 

 ◄2007 SF choked against the invincible Australian team 

◄2011 QF once again they choked big time to lose to an average team like NZ after playing so well in the group stage even defeating India!

If you look at above examples, the fact is apart from the 2007 SF, SA chocked against the teams who are below them(the underdogs)

Sri Lanka winning '96 Wold Cup.

As for Sri Lanka we see 4 losing finals. 

• Against 2007 Australia,

• 2009 against Pakistan, 

• 2011 against India

•  2012 against WI, in the own den.

Apart from West Indies and Pakistanis at the time, all the other teams were actually favorites and ahead of Sri Lanka before the big game. (Australians were the team of invincible,  India was always with some advantages over Sri Lanka with the home conditions, Mathews injury,etc ). 

So it proves that SA has always lost to the underdog while SL was defeated by the top dog most of the times in knock out stage. Losing to the top dog can’t be called as choking while losing to the underdog is clearly choking. So with all respect to the great cricketing nation, i'm afraid we have to call South Africans the biggest chokers.

Sri Lanka has won a world cup but South Africa hasn't grabbed the gold as of yet.  SL just choked in finals recently. They were still good enough to win crucial first round matches, Quarters and Semis to qualify for the finals meanwhile the S.Africans have choked during the QF and SF stage before even going in to the finals! So they are the ones who got choked harder.SA have been choked by the under dogs while SL has been choked mostly by the top dog.

But, despite their team not getting the tag, Sri Lankan fans had to go through too many suffering nights, one might be surprised to see them still backing up Sri Lanka after their team failing to make them happy in four grand finals. But hopefully Sri Lanka will get the big night in '15. Sri Lanka gets its fans hopes up only to dash them by choking in the big one. Couple of people even committed suicide but I am sure many more did and have over all the finals Sri Lanka has got to and lost. Hopefully next one they can win..

Alleged War Crimes

How hard will it be for a kid when his mother/father is accused of murder? No matter how hard the kid tries to explain to his friends, they won't believe him as the media always speak against him. The kid will not give up because he knows about his mother/father than anyone else does. Police ,with very little evidences and  lots of claims, is also confused what actions they should take against the mother/father. 

It hurts big time to hear such things about Sri Lanka. The thing i really can't stand is that most of the facts activists bring up, are the claims of ex-LTTE members (the whole channel 4's story was based on former LTTE members). Most of the Tamils live in Canada weren't in the war zone, they weren't the people who were used as a shield by LTTE. their kids were not sent to the front line of the war, so the LTTE leaders could survive another day. But BBC/CNN only promote the claims of people who were thousands of miles away form the war zone at the time of the story.

the video above shows how the tamils in jaffna, a district affected by the war, celebrate the victory of Sri Lankan army over LTTE. 

If there were enough proofs against SL, then they would have already taken actions against them. but so far, all the evidences they have brought up , are the "so called" claims of former LTTE members. Can they be taken as facts? Tamil votes in canada, and in many countries play a huge part in elections, not to mention that LTTE has lots of money to offer to any political party, international organization that would represent them. So if you observe closely, you will realize that the world still blames Sri Lanka for "made up" stories.

The Tamil Tigers was one of the worst terrorist groups on the planet. Its war for Independence in northern Sri Lanka was extremely brutal and it happily expanded it terrorist activities to foreign countries -- including Canada. Canadians is especially enjoying its human smuggling ring, selling stolen Canadian passports, $300 million dollar drug ring still running in Montreal, war criminals immigrating to the country, etc. Ask any RCMP, customs, or CIC officer in Vancouver, Montreal, or Toronto which is *the* largest terrorist group operating in Canada?

Although the worldwide media cooperation gave a huge publicity for the Channel 4's baseless video, they gave only a very little room for the reply of Sri Lanka  if any.
